Where Aquarena Springs feeds the headwaters is a truly special thing. You can’t swim in the springs, but you can swim in the water that flows over the dam and starts the river – feeling the same refreshing feeling that humans did in the same spot up to 70,000 years ago. It’s beautiful. Parking can be difficult, as you’ll need a permit during the week, and this particular area has been fenced off for a natural “recharge” – but you can swim up under the bridge and stay off the banks if you’d like to. At 72 degrees, it’s a place you could enjoy during the winter, but be sure to dry off as soon as you get out! During the winter the water is extremely clear, and I hope to get back in to do some more underwater video with a new 4K action cam I got.

We will be happy to hear your thoughts
